International participation funding

Announcement: Provisional Calendar of Events and applications open for funding to participate in 56th Session of CSW in New York, 27 February to 9 March 2012

The Australian Human Rights Commission has recently revised the Calendar of Events and application process for the funding initiative to support the participation of people with disability to attend key international forums on human rights. The revised information can be found at

The Commission has also added the Fifty-sixth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW56) as an event eligible for funding and included the event in the Provisional Calendar of Events.

CSW56 will be held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from Monday, 27 February to Friday, 9 March 2012.

The priority theme for CSW56 is: “The empowerment of rural women and their role in poverty and hunger eradication, development and current challenges”. For more information about this event please see:

Please note, this website highlights the following:

  1. the deadline for CSW56 pre-registration
for ECOSOC-accredited NGOs is 17 January 2012.
  2. NGOs that are accredited to and in good standing with the Economic and Social Council, may send representatives to annual sessions of CSW at United Nations Headquarters.
  3. NGOs with or without consultative status with the Economic and Social Council, may organize and attend parallel events held outside United Nations premises, for example in the Church Center.

Disability Peak Organisations and Disability Advocacy Organisations that are not ECOSOC accredited but interested in sending a representative(s) to this event may seek to partner with and ECOSOC accredited NGO and request inclusion of their representative(s) in the ECOSOC accredited NGO delegation.
